Creating a registry for your wedding, baby shower, or other special occasion helps takes the guesswork out of gift giving. Putting together a simple list ensures you get things you want while making the whole process easier for your guests. With Target, registering is incredibly simple and can be easily done on your computer or phone.

Visit the Registries & Lists page on the official Target website. Go to Target.com and click the categories button in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. In the navigation bar that comes up, press the button labeled Registries & Lists. You can also access the page by visiting https://www.target.com/gift-registry/.^[1]

Select the type of registry you want to create. On the Registries & Lists page, scroll down until you see a series of pictures indicating different types of lists you can make. Target lists options to create Baby, Wedding, College, and Housewarming registries. If none of these meet your needs, you can build a custom registry instead. Select the option that best suits your needs and, on the next page, click the Create Registry button.^[2]

Log into your Target account. If you already have a Target account, hit the button labeled 'yes, let me sign in,' enter your account information, and click Sign In. If you do not, hit the button labeled 'no, I'll create one now,' type in the requested information, and click Create Account.

Enter your personal info, registry details, and gift address. Follow the on-screen instructions and enter any requested information. This will include your name and the names of anybody else associated with the list, the date of the event, and a shipping address people can send gifts to. If you do not want the registry to be publicly searchable, deselect the box marked 'Make my registry publicly available online, in Target stores and on Target.com.'^[3]
- For the registry URL box, type in a simple name related to the event so people know what the link is before clicking it.

Open the app and follow the startup instructions. Once it finishes downloading, open the app and click the button labeled Get Started. Since you are creating a registry from scratch, click No when asked whether or not you already have a registry. When prompted, enter your first name.

Select a type of registry to create. After entering your name, pick the kind of registry you want to make. The options include Wedding, Baby, College, Housewarming, Birthday, Charity, Holiday, Anniversary, Pet, and Miscellaneous. After selecting your option, click the I'm Ready button, which will redirect you to the app's home screen. There, press the Create a Registry button.^[5]

Type in your Target account info. After clicking the Create a Registry button, you will be redirected to the Target account login page. If you already have a Target account, enter your information and press Sign In. If you do not, tap Create an Account, enter the requested information, and press Create Account.

Enter your personal and registry information. When prompted, enter your last name, the name of any other people the list is for, the date and location of the event, and a shipping address people can send gifts to. By default, your registry will be accessible by anyone via the Target registry database. To change this, deselect the 'make my registry publicly available online, in Target stores and on Target.com' option. Then, click Create Registry.^[6]

Look for gifts on the official Target website. While logged into the Target.com account associated with your registry, browse the site and look for items to add to your list. When you find an item you want, click the large 'add to registry' button located near the product's price. From there, follow the on-screen instructions to add it to your list.^[7]

Find items on the Target Registry app. To look at popular registry items, click the browse button at the bottom of the app. To hunt for a specific item, tap the search bar at the top of the app and type in the name of the product. When you find an item you want to add, press either the + button located next to the search result or the Add to Registry button located on the bottom of the product information screen.^[8]

Scan products using the Target Registry app. While at a physical Target location, you can scan items with the Registry app and add them to your list. To do so, click the scan icon at the bottom of the app. Line the product's barcode up with the white box on the screen and hold it there until it says 'Added to Registry.'^[9]
- As long as Target stocks the item, you can also scan products at other stores and add them to your registry.
